Bridge Program
The Bridge Program is what makes Parks Training and Therapy the most unique. This program is designed to help “bridge” the gap from physical therapy to high level training and return to sport/activity. Athletes that typically engage in this program often fall into one of three categories:
1. Athlete has sustained an injury that required surgical intervention. This athlete has then completed all physical therapy sessions (at another PT clinic) and has been discharged. The athlete is then told to just continue their exercises on their own without supervision or guidance. This is usually the moment when athletes recognize they are not quite capable of progressing themselves back into training and their sport. It is then at this point in which athletes enroll in our bridge program in which they receive high quality training that is supervised and designed by a physical therapist who knows how to appropriately progress the athlete.

2. Athlete has sustained and injury that required surgical intervention. Athlete is receiving PT services from another PT clinic, but is unfortunately cut off and discharged early due to running out of approved insurance covered visits (happens more than you think sadly). This athlete is clearly in need of more skilled assistance to rehabilitate however the insurance company does not see it that way. This athlete is usually at a very crucial point in their recovery in which they can begin to progress back towards their sport/activity. This is the moment in which athletes enroll in our bridge program to continue to receive skilled intervention provided by a licensed physical therapist to progress them back to their sport/activity.

3. Athlete has sustained an injury that required surgical intervention. Athlete is receiving PT services from another PT clinic, but their approved insurance visits are starting to run out. In order to combat this, the PT clinic will typically reduce the volume of visits to once per week. It is not uncommon for me to enroll athletes in this program that are being seen once a week by an outside PT clinic for an ACL reconstructive surgery! To no fault of their own, these insurance-based PT clinics have to abide by the rules that the insurance companies set forth. This is the moment in which athletes are enrolled into the bridge program to increase their amount of sessions back to a frequency at which it should be to experience maximum results. Because at Parks Training and Therapy we do not have to put a restriction or cap on your care as we will always put you at the center of the healthcare model with our cash-based services.
What they are saying...
Zach Wellman - Crestview High School Soccer
If it weren’t for Troy at Parks Therapy and Training, we would have been left
with no options for physical therapy for our son, Zach. He experienced a full
ACL injury and was forced to undergo six weeks of physical therapy before an
MRI would be performed. After little to no improvement, the MRI indicated he
had a full ACL tear. Zach underwent surgery that would require a lengthy
physical therapy recovery process. Unfortunately, though, our insurance
company forced us to use more than half of our allotted visits before
determining the significance of the injury. Our son was left with eight covered
physical therapy visits for a full ACL tear post-surgery. We were then billed
nearly $500 per visit by the hospital system, twice a week, to continue the
needed treatment. Most families would struggle to meet this financial need
and as a result, most just discontinue treatment for their children.

This would have been our circumstance, too, had we not found Troy Parks and Parks Therapy and Training. Zach received not only targeted treatment for his ACL injury, but also full body conditioning vital to a safe recovery process. Troy explained the importance of treating both sides of the body in order to ensure Zach’s return to competitive soccer did not risk further injuries. This incredibly effective training process, with unlimited visits per week, are provided at around half the cost of one hospital therapy visit. Zach loves working out with Troy, has recovered from his injury successfully, and has returned to competitive play. We still continue to utilize the services at Parks Therapy and Training for overall strength and conditioning.

Shane Lindstrom - South Range High School
I started with Dr. Troy Parks last year wanting to increase my speed and agility
on the field. He welcomed me with open arms and was as motivated and
committed as I was to my goal. He is a very personal coach who is willing to
work around your schedule and work on things specific to your needs. He
breaks down the specifics of each exercise and correlates it to how it will
maximize production and efficiency on the field. He brings energy and
excitement to every workout. This year after my ACL injury, I came back to
Dr. Parks to help with the rehabilitation process. He gave me all the right
exercises to help with my knee. He is a great trainer/physical therapist and I
am very lucky to work with him. His gym has an elevated atmosphere where
everyone pushes each other to be better. He is a great trainer and an even
better guy.

Jake Ford - Springfield Local High School, Geneva College Men’s Basketball
I have been training and rehabbing with Troy for many years, and during this
time Troy has went above and beyond to help me become the best athlete I can
be. He does a very good job of training each differently according to their sport
and specific needs. Before I do any workout, I know that Troy has put a lot of
thought into it. Every exercise that he has me do he can explain specifically why
it will make me a better basketball player. Troy’s main goal in everyone that he
works with is to make the better. He has motivated me to put the same effort
and dedication into working out as he does in training me. During my athletic
career I have had multiple knee injuries that Troy helped me recover from.
Because of his rehab I was able to quickly return to sport better o than I what I
was before the injury each time. He knew exactly which exercises would help
me recover and which ones I was not ready for. Whether they are rehabbing or training with him, Troy’s combination of knowledge and passion for what he does will make anyone that is willing to work a better athlete.
